Hello all! While I was trying to think of some fun thanksgiving themed blogs, I came up with the idea of possibly sharing a yummy thanksgiving inspired holiday dog treat, but of course I am no chef or baker. Then I thought of my best friend, Alixandria Kipler. She would be purrfect because she is a baker who loves to create new and yummy creations! She owns her very own local at home bakery on the east coast, called Bubbys Breads. So, I asked if she could create a dog treat recipe to be featured in this month’s blog. Alix came up with the purrfect and easy holiday treat for your doggos. Here is her recipe below:
Pumpkin Dog Treats
What You’ll Need:
2 Tbsp Peanut Butter (Xylitol Free)
2 eggs
2 ½ Cups Whole Wheat Flour
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Cinnamon
½ Cup Pumpkin (about half a can)
Optional: Dogbone, pumpkin, or any holiday shaped cookie cutter
Step 1: Wisk together; eggs, cinnamon, pumpkin, and peanut butter until a creamy consistency is formed. slowly add the flour and salt until well combined.
Step 2: Place dough in fridge for 10 minutes. Once the dough has had a few minutes to chill, roll out dough onto a well-floured surface (a clean counter does the trick!).
Step 3: Using your cookie cutters, cut your desired shapes and place on a well-greased pan.
Step 4: Bake on 350° for 35-40 minutes
Final Step: Let treats cool completely before serving.
Benefits of these treats:
Pumpkin is a very nutrient-dense food. Pumpkin is proven to boost the immune system, help with an upset stomach, and aid in digestive health. Pumpkin also helps keep a shiny coat and can help if your dog has dandruff. Another great ingredient is cinnamon. Cinnamon can help regulate your dog’s blood sugar, it is also an anti-inflammatory and helps fight against heart disease. But just a dash will do!
Your pups will surely enjoy these yummy treats made just for them!
