As all of you know, we have a serious virus circulating around the world. Known as the Coronavirus. With the rising concern, it seems that overseas travels have been put on hold until the virus clears up. So, with that said I took the time to find the top 5 best vacations in the US. That way those who have vacation time or had vacations planned and had to cancel can still find a getaway for some R&R.
*Disclaimer this does not mean these areas are immune to the virus, but possibly have a much lower chance of contracting it as the virus is spreading overseas and those who have traveled there.
Big Sur, Ca
#1 may be familiar to some of you who are natives to San Diego, and that is Big Sur, Ca. This beautiful coastline is home to the Santa Lucia mountains with stunning beaches and frequent beautiful waterfalls. This stretch of coastline is known for its spectacular scenery. There is a lovely scenic drive you can take on the highway one starting in San Francisco. In Big Sur you can visit the Redwood forests, visit the beautiful beaches, get some hiking in, and many other outdoor activities. Great for those vacationers who are looking for variety in their itineraries.
Joshua Tree National Park
#2 is another California vacation find, known as Joshua Tree National Park. At Joshua Tree you can find oddly shaped plants and their famous trees that make Joshua Tree park, well, Joshua Tree Park. Joshua Tree is a perfect destination for rock climbers, with the huge boulders that line the National Park. Hikers can walk the trails of Joshua Park enjoying the vast scenery and photographers can get beautiful destination photos. Don’t forget the surrounding village of Joshua tree who is home to a diverse mixture of people from all walks of life. Not to mention the amazing eats, such as Pappy and Harriet’s. Pappy and Harriet’s is a restaurant, saloon, and outdoor music venue built into one place. This one of kind eatery dates to the 1940’s where it was made to be an 1800’s frontier movie set and used as a backdrop in many famous films. Taking a trip here makes for a nice desert getaway.
Key West, Florida
#3 on our list is taking us to the sunshine state of Florida, Key West Florida to be exact. If you’re itching for a Caribbean vacation without stepping foot outside the US, this location is a great alternative due to its trail of islands that line the southern coast of Florida. The keys are known for its nightlife. The best place to visit for music and drinks is The Green Room. Known for its organic cocktails and environmentally friendly bar make this place a great choice for having some fun while being environmentally friendly, who doesn’t love that. So, if you’re feeling a tropical vibe for your next break, Key west may be for you.
Gatlinburg, Tennessee
#4 is for those of you who want more of country rustic vacation, which is good ol’ Gatlinburg Tennessee. Home to the famous theme park known as Dollywood. Dollywood is fun for the whole family, with thrilling rides, yummy southern food, and one-of-a-kind shops. Or hop on over to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, where you can see an amazing array of aquatic specimens and so much more. Finish off a day of exploring Gatlinburg with a delicious meal at the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show. This southern dine features entertainment for all including singing, dancing, and more. Perfect for those who need a family friendly escape.
Grand Canyon
# 5 on our list is the amazingly beautiful Grand Canyon. Located in Arizona, Grand Canyon National Park houses many viewpoints such as Mather Point. You can visit another viewpoint known as Lipan point, which offers vast views of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado river. Checking this viewpoint out is a must during sunrises and sunsets. You can get one with the wilderness by camping or if you prefer a more tamed sleeping arrangement, you can always lodge in the cabins inside the park. Don’t forget to bring your bike or if you did no worries, you can rent bikes to cruise along the amazing trails. Or if you prefer to stay on foot you can hike as well. If you want to get off land and into some water, you can always enjoy some whitewater or smooth water trips on the Colorado river. The Grand Canyon is more of rugged vacation, and perfect for those looking for an outdoor adventure.
